
People’s Police University Awarded “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” Title
The People’s Police University (PPU) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th founding anniversary and receive the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces,” on the morning of April 19, 2026.

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the ceremony.
Over five decades, although PPU has experienced various organizational models and training systems, it has consistently fulfilled its assigned tasks, gradually affirming its role as a key center for education and training, scientific research and technology transfer in the Public Security Forces.
To date, the university has trained nearly 170,000 police domestic and international students, including nearly 70,000 bachelor’s degree holders, nearly 3,000 master’s degree holders and nearly 200 PhD holders. It has also provided training for nearly 2,000 undergraduate-level trainees and professional courses to leaders and officers of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, as well as held other short-term training and refresher programs for hundreds of thousands of students.
In recognition of its outstanding achievements, the university was honorably awarded the noble title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the President on the occasion of its 50th founding anniversary.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang commended and congratulated generations of leaders, lecturers and students of the university on their remarkable accomplishments over the past 50 years.
He emphasized that the university should uphold its heroic tradition to effectively implement the Party’s guidelines on breakthrough development in education and training, contributing to building a modern national education system aligned with regional and international standards.
The Minister also stressed the need to further innovate training programs and methodologies, actively apply science and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation in teaching and assessment, and expand international cooperation with police training institutions worldwide.
In addition, he called for a shift toward a “factual problem-based approach” in training, with a focus on improving digital and AI competencies, critical thinking, professional skills and advisory capacity of trainees.
Expressing confidence in the university’s future development, the Minister wished that the PPU would continue to achieve new breakthrough achievements, successfully fulfill its assigned tasks, meeting the expectations of the Party, the State, the Public Security Central Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security and the people.
