Speaking at the event, General To Lam emphasized that Vietnam always attaches great importance to cooperation with Angola, considering Angola an important partner in Africa. The host also said that the Vietnamese side is willing to exchange delegations, share information and experience in protection of national security, crime prevention and fight as well as to promote cooperation in other fields, including security and police affairs, rescue, fire prevention and fighting, and law enforcement.
Minister To Lam expected that both sides would soon negotiate an agreement on extradition and agreement on transfer of imprisoned persons between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Ministry of the Interior of Angola. He also hoped the Angolan side will inform the Vietnamese side of agencies in charge of the negotiation so that involved Vietnamese and Angolan agencies can work together on the documents as well as other information regarding negotiations.
The two sides also agreed to continue promoting cooperation on non-traditional security areas such as cyber security, protection of government’s important infrastructural projects, food security, climate change response while strengthening exchange of information and experience in analyzing and appraising situations of the world and the region, as well as in preventing and combating transnational organized crime, human trafficking, illegal immigration, drug-related crimes, hi-tech crimes, money laundering, and ensuring security and order.
The two sides showed their high resolve to provide favorable conditions for citizens of one country to travel, study, do business and live in the other country under the laws of the country and international conventions, and actively exchange high-level delegations and experts to promote cooperation in all fields with a focus on personnel training and security industry.
General José Luis Caetano Higino de Sousa thanked Minister To Lam for his kind reception and highlighted that Vietnam and Angola have enjoyed good developments in bilateral relations in the past time, particularly in the fields, including positive developments in the ties between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Angolan Interior Ministry. He also expressed his belief that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of Angola would achieve more fruitful outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in the field of ensuring security and order as well as crime prevention and combat. General José Luis Caetano Higino de Sousa also promised that he would do his best to promote the ties between Vietnam and Angola in general and between the two Ministries in particular.
