Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that Vietnam and Latvia have enjoyed a good and traditional relationship and cooperation in many fields. In order to promote the ties and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Latvia's law enforcement agencies in the coming time on par with the potentials of the two countries, To Lam proposed that the two sides enhance change of delegations at all levels, exchange of information and new legal provisions and new policies of each country in the fields of migration management, immigration and border control.
Minister To Lam suggested the Latvian side consider negotiating and signing agreements with Vietnam on criminal extradition, transfer of sentenced persons, criminal justice assistance. The Vietnamese Minister of Public Security asked Latvia to continue providing favorable conditions for Vietnamese nationals living, studying and doing business legally in Latvia.
On the basis of the traditional friendship and relationship and mutual trust between the two countries, Minister To Lam believes that the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and Latvia's law enforcement agencies will develop in the future.
The Latvian Minister thanked General To Lam for the warm reception and hoped that the relations between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Latvia would be promoted, contributing to enhancing the traditional relations and cooperation between the two countries, for the interests of the two nations.
