Minister To Lam receives outgoing Swiss ambassador

MPS - Minister of Public Security General To Lam hosted a meeting on the afternoon of August 2 in Hanoi with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Federation to Vietnam Ivo Sieber, who paid a farewell visit to the Ministry of Public Security as he finished his term of office in the country.

Overview of the meeting.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam congratulated the Ambassador on his successes during his term of office in Vietnam, and highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive contributions during the term of office, saying the Swiss Ambassador made an important contribution to promoting the relationship between the two countries in general, and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the relevant Swiss agencies in particular.

The host also congratulated the Swiss people on the 731th National Day of the Swiss Federation (August 1, 1291 - August 1, 2022), and highlighted positive developments in the bilateral relations in the past years. 

General To Lam said, over the past 51 years, the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries have developed positively in all fields, particularly in politics, trade and investment, culture, science, technology, education and training, creating a solid foundation for the two countries' relations.

Minister To Lam believed that the bilateral cooperation would be further expanded, meeting the potentials, advantages and desires of the two nations, especially in security, national defense, contributing to ensuring social order and safety for citizens of each country.

In the coming time, Minister To Lam hopes that the two sides will strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and order, increase exchange of delegations at all levels in order to realize cooperation deals between the two countries, and support each other in building capacity of the two sides’ police forces to invest international criminal cases, enhance exchange of information about crime and terrorism.

He wished that the Swiss side would support the Vietnamese side to open training courses on high technology for Vietnamese police officers, share information and work experience in preventing and fighting transnational organized crime, cybercrime.

Sincerely thanking Minister To Lam for the meeting, Ambassador Ivo Sieber expressed delight at the good outcomes of the relations and cooperation between the two countries and believed that the cooperation in ensuring security, order and controlling crime in each country between Swiss law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will continue to be strengthened.

The Ambassador affirmed, with his responsibility as well as personal sentiment for Vietnam, he will do his best to bolster relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of national security, regardless of his working position in the future.
