The event also saw the presence of Chairman of the Son La Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Hoang Van Chat as well as Colonel Bun Lam, Head of the Representative Office of Laos’ Ministry of Security in Vietnam and leaders of the provincial police departments of the five Northern provinces of Laos of Houaphan, Louaangphabang, Oudomxai, Louangnamtha and Bokeo.
Functional forces of Son La and the five provinces of Laos have gained various achievements in preventing and fighting drugs over the past 10 years, cracking down on various drug rings in Laos, opening training courses and exchanging experience in drug prevention and fight.
The police and border guard forces of the two sides in close coordination arrested thousands of suspects, seized scores of drugs of various kinds while advising the authorities of localities along the shared borderline to consolidate their political systems and conducting various anti-drug campaigns in couple with promoting socio-economic development.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong suggested the Border Guard Command coordinate closely with the Provincial Police of Son La and other functional forces to promote law dissemination to raise the awareness of local people, particularly ethnic minority ones of protecting border security. He also recommended relevant Vietnamese and Lao forces to actively coordinate with each other to prevent and fight drug-related crimes more effectively.
