According to the letter, leaders of the MPS got a report on May 31, 2022, from the Cybersecurity Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department on their successful investigation of a locally-based criminal gang that illegally took Australian citizens’ benefits from the Australian Government’s Early Release of Superannuation. The police arrested four suspects, seized 14 mobile phones, 12 bank cards, two cars and lots of documents related to the case.
The deputy minister of public security stressed that it is a specially excellent victory of Office 4 of the Cybersecurity Department and the Criminal Police Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department. The two agencies have seriously implemented the instructions from the MPS leadership on resolutely combating hi-tech crime and transnational crime.
It has also demonstrated effective coordination between the Vietnamese police and Australian counterpart in fighting transnational crime.
On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the MPS, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang complimented the two agencies and officers participating in the investigation of the case. He also urged the two police agencies to complete documentations and evidence to prosecute persons involved in the case according the Vietnamese laws.
