Investigation police force asked to take preventive measures to reduce 5% of crimes

MPS - The Office of the Police Investigation Authority (OPIA) of the Ministry of Public Security on January 9 held a conference to review its task performance in 2019 and roll out its working plan for 2020. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security Ministry and Head of the Police Investigation Authority, attended and made a keynote speech at the event.

In 2019, the OPIA carefully checked and guided the investigation police force to the investigation and handling of criminal cases as well as pursuit of wanted criminals. 

It also closely monitored and well managed the custody, temporary detention and execution of criminal judgments in accordance with law provisions.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong awards the Certificates of Merits from the Ministry of Public Security to the outstanding teams of the OPIA.


Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong praised the OPIA for the efforts and achievements over the past year. He requested the office to better perform their assigned tasks, especially to guide its investigation police units at all levels to implement preventive plans against crimes and social evils in order to reduce 5% of all crimes in 2020.

The OPIA should also expand international cooperation and seek legal assistance in criminal investigation with INTERPOL and other countries. 

Additionally, it should enhance political education and professional training for officers in the investigation police force so that they can meet all operational requirements and successfully fulfill their assignments in the current situation.
