MPS cracks down on major production and trading ring of fake petrol

MPS - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has cracked down on a large-scale and complex fake petrol production and trading ring in Dak Nong, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Soc Trang.

From May 28 to June 2, the police force monitored and caught four groups led by Trinh Suong, Dinh Chi Dung, Nguyen Ngoc Quan and Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa producing and trading fake petrol, and seized many relevant documents and various clear proofs of the offences.

The initial results of the investigation show that under the cover of a petrol business, the suspects mixed solvent into poor quality gasoline plus RON substance and colorants to make fake E5 RON 92 and RON 95 gasoline and sell a large amount of fake petrol products in many provinces and cities for a long time. By doing so, they illegally earned over a hundred billion Dongs.

So far, the police force has seized 3,264,281 liters of liquid of different types (including 2,183,604 liters of fake gasoline; 432,474 liters of solvent; 250,000 liters of other liquid); 03 ships; 06 tank trucks; 05 pumps, 50kg of coloring and other related exhibits. Gasoline samples were tested and the results say “the quality does not meet the standards regulated by QCVN 01:2015/BKHCN...” Unqualified gasoline will affect the engine capacity and cause damages to the engine”.

Based on the collected documents and evidence and the inspection results, the Investigation Police Department of Dak Nong issued a decision to prosecute 23 people, of whom 22 were arrested for detention and the remainder was banned from leaving the residence place. The decisions and orders above were approved by the Dak Nong People's Procuracy. At the police investigation agency, the arrested confessed that they had made fake gasoline for a long time and sold nearly 19.5 million liters of the fake petrol products to the market. The arrested have illegally profited about 135 billion VND.
