Implementing the President’s amnesty decision on the occasion of the 80th National Day and the guidelines of the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty, the Council’s inter-agency appraisal teams, with their seriousness and high sense of responsibility, have carefully reviewed more than 10,000 applications for amnesty submitted by detention centers and prisons under the Ministry of Public Security, provincial-level Criminal Judgment Execution Authorities and prisons under the Ministry of National Defense, over the past time.
The process of reviewing and recommending inmates for amnesty was carried out in a strict, public, democratic, objective, fair and transparent manner, and in line with regulations.

Overview of the meeting.
To ensure the efficiency of the upcoming amnesty drive, ministries, sectors and localities are required to pay close attention to community reintegration for released inmates, enhancing dissemination of the policy across Party committees, authorities, mass organizations and communities so that they can be aware of and responsible for community reintegration of released inmates, avoiding discrimination against ex-prisoners and actively supporting them to overcome their stigma.
The involved agencies and localities also need to provide further support for ex-prisoners by sending them to vocational training courses, offering them jobs, helping them quickly reintegrate into the community, have stable lives, and stay away from wrongdoings.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh speaks at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that the goal of the amnesty is to foster a positive social atmosphere while reflecting the nation’s human traditions and the Party and State’s clemency policy toward prisoners. Thus, the humane policy requires serious and righteous implementation.
The Deputy Prime Minister further noted that the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty will early finalize and submit the list of inmates eligible for amnesty to the President for consideration and decision.
