MPS promotes cooperation with KNPA

On behalf of the delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen congratulated Mr. Kim Jong Cheol on his appointment as Acting Commissioner General of the KNPA. He expressed confidence that cooperation between the two agencies will continue to deepen and deliver practical results.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen highly valued the positive outcomes of bilateral cooperation in maintaining social order and safety, combating crime, and apprehending wanted fugitives. 

He emphasized that the two sides should closely execute the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on upgrading the Viet Nam–RoK Communication Team (Korean Desk) and the Action Plan implementing the MoU on cooperation between the two agencies. 

He also called for stepping up delegation exchanges at all levels and thoroughly preparing for the 8th Viet Nam–RoK Deputy-Ministerial Police Cooperation Conference, alongside a cultural and sports exchange program scheduled for late 2026 in Viet Nam.

Regarding crime prevention and control, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen proposed boosting information sharing through both bilateral channels and INTERPOL. 

He urged the two sides to actively arrest and extradite wanted fugitives hiding in each other's territories, and to collaborate on Korean and Vietnamese language training. 

Furthermore, he requested the KNPA's support in building capacity for Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security officers in cybersecurity and transnational crime investigation, as well as expanding exchanges between training institutions of the two countries’ police forces.

Expressing full agreement with Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen’s suggestions and ideas, Acting Commissioner General Kim Jong Cheol thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for consistently maintaining a safe environment and supporting Korean citizens and businesses in Viet Nam, as well as effectively handling cases and incidents involving South Korean nationals.

The Acting Commissioner General affirmed that the KNPA stands ready to enhance cooperation in exchanging crime intelligence, support law enforcement capacity building, and promote academic and training exchanges between the two police forces.
