MPS reviews public security work in third quarter and first nine months of 2026

Politburo Member, Secretary of the Public Security CPV Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired a conference, in Ha Noi on September 29, 2026, to review public security work in the third quarter and first nine months of the year.

The conference was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organisation, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and heads of MPS departments and units.

A report presented at the conference stated that, during the third quarter and first nine months of 2026, the People’s Public Security Forces had effectively upheld their core role and set an example in implementing the Party and State’s guidelines and policies.

With their great work results, the Public Security Forces had contributed largely to achieving the Party’s strategic objectives and ensuring peaceful and happy lives for the people.

The People’s Public Security Forces had also focused on building a clean, strong, regular, elite and modernized force that is “Most Disciplined – Most Loyal – Closest to the People” and capable of meeting the requirements of safeguarding the Fatherland in the new situation.

Public security units and local police departments had strictly and resolutely implemented the directions of the CPV Central Committee, Government and Ministry of Public Security, thereby contributing to firmly safeguarding national security, maintaining social order and safety, and effectively supporting the country’s foreign relations and socio-economic development.

Under the moderation of Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, leaders of public security units and local police departments discussed issues concerning security work; measures to combat and prevent crime and achieve the target of reducing social order-related crimes by 10 percent; progress toward building 30 percent of communes, wards and special zones as drug-free areas; and breakthrough solutions to reform training programs and curricula at Public Security colleges, universities and academies.

Addressing the conference, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that, during the first nine months of 2026, the People’s Public Security Forces had continued to demonstrate their competence, closely follow developments and set an example in implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Party’s strategic guidelines.

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organisation and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang recognized, commended and congratulated the entire People’s Public Security Forces on their achievements in the third quarter and first nine months of 2026.

Regarding key tasks for the coming period, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized the need to make a final concerted push and successfully fulfill all established objectives and targets.

He requested thorough preparations for the second session of the 16th National Assembly, particularly discussions and consultations on codes and laws drafted under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security or related to the Ministry’s functions and duties. 

The Minister requested stricter state management of cybersecurity and intensified efforts to combat economic crime, corruption, smuggling, and the manufacture and trade of counterfeit goods during the final months of the year.

He also instructed public security units and local police departments to synchronously implement measures to minimize street crime and juvenile-related crime and to focus on reducing traffic accidents.
