During the meeting with Director General for Civil Security and Crisis Management under the French Ministry of the Interior Julien Marion, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen and the French official discussed ways to expand cooperation between the two ministries, particularly in fire prevention, firefighting and rescue.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen emphasized that, within the framework of the Vietnam–France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, cooperation between the Vietnam’s MPS and the French Ministry of the Interior has developed comprehensively, ranging from high-level delegation exchanges and combating transnational crime to handling illegal immigration, training for peacekeepers and fire and rescue officers.
The Deputy Minister noted that since the signing of the Letter of Intent on enhancing fire prevention, firefighting and rescue capacity between the two ministries in 2021, the bilateral cooperation in civil protection has become a highlight of the partnership.

He expressed gratitude to the French Ministry of the Interior for sending experts to Vietnam to lecture at training courses and for facilitating Vietnamese officers’ participation in advanced fire and rescue training programs held in South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan (China) and France.
He affirmed that the MPS applauds and supports France’s peace initiatives in the Asia–Pacific region, including enhancing fire and rescue capacity for specialized officers in the region, affirming that the MPS will work closely with the French Ministry of the Interior to consider the establishment of a regional training center on fire and rescue in Vietnam, with the goal of making Vietnam a regional leading country in fire and rescue training.
The two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of experience in fire and rescue. The French side consented to provide Vietnam with protective gear, specialized vehicles and particularly airplanes and helicopters for high-rise rescue and forest firefighting.

At the meeting between the MPS delegation and the Directorate for International and European Affairs of the French Ministry of the Interior, the two sides discussed joint training projects to be implemented in Vietnam, shared experiences in addressing lithium battery fires in electric vehicles and fires in basements of houses and high-rise buildings, and considered transferring technology in production of protective equipment, specialized vehicles and aerial rescue platforms.
As part of the working trip, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen visited the Embassy of Vietnam in France.
