Welcoming Minister Gordan Grlić Radman and the Croatian delegation on their visit to Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that this has been the first visit by a Croatian Foreign Minister to Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1994, taking place at a time when Vietnam–Croatia relations are facing new and promising opportunities.
He also stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to building substantive cooperative relations with Croatian agencies, as Croatia’s position within the European Union continued to grow significantly.
In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security and Croatian partners have implemented several cooperation activities, including the signing of a cooperation agreement in the field of fire prevention, firefighting and rescue, as well as coordination in criminal information exchange at the request of the INTERPOL Croatia Office.
Against the backdrop of rapidly changing, complex and unpredictable regional and global security developments with traditional and non-traditional security challenges increasingly intertwined, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security always wishes to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries in general and cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as well as other Croatian partners in particular, in a substantive and effective manner for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, thereby contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
On that basis, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides continue creating favorable conditions for businesses and investors from the European Union and Vietnam to participate more actively in each other’s markets, creating conditions for citizens of one country to study, work and live legally in the other country, and promote cooperation in manufacturing specialized products for law enforcement forces in the areas, which Croatia has strengths in and meet the needs of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
Expressing appreciation to Minister Luong Tam Quang for the reception, Minister Gordan Grlić Radman said, he was honored to become the first Croatian Foreign Minister to officially visit Vietnam, especially on the occasion of the 136th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.
Congratulating Vietnam on its remarkable development achievements in recent years, Minister Gordan Grlić Radman affirmed that Croatia highly valued its traditional friendship with Vietnam and regarded Vietnam as one of Croatia’s most important partners in Southeast Asia, while expressing the willingness to further strengthen bilateral relations across all fields.
Appreciating the positive results of bilateral cooperation in security and law enforcement in recent years, Minister Gordan Grlić Radman expressed confidence that, based on the two nations’ sincerity and strong political determination, the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Croatian partner agencies would become one of the important pillars contributing to elevating bilateral relations to a new height.
