At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang and Ambassador Gillian Bird shared the view that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Australia has been flourishing across various fields, such as politics and diplomacy, economics, trade, education and training and people-to-people exchange, particularly following the elevation of the bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024.

The two sides also affirmed that the Vietnam - Australia bilateral relationship holds significant potential and opportunities for further development, especially in the fields of security and law enforcement.

To deepen the Vietnam – Australia security cooperation in an effective and substantive manner, Minister Luong Tam Quang and Ambassador Gillian Bird agreed to further enhance criminal information sharing as well as regularly exchange hands-on experiences in crime prevention and control.

Additionally, the two sides also consented on effectively implementing signed cooperation documents, while considering signing new cooperation agreements on crime prevention and control.
Finally, the two sides committed to creating favorable conditions for one country’s citizens travelling, living, studying and working in the other country.
