MPS reviews task performance in May

MPS - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting to review work results of the Public Security Forces in May and roll out its work plan for the next month, on the morning of June 3, in Hanoi.

Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the meeting.

Delivering a general report at the meeting, Chief of the MPS Office Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan highlighted that the Public Security Forces took synchronous measures last month to safeguard national security and maintain social order and safety, fostering a secure and safe environment for major national events and activities.

Accordingly, the forces ensured absolute security and safety for activities with the participation of Party and State leaders as well as international delegations, while improving the effectiveness of crime prevention and control.

Furthermore, significant progress was also made in restructuring the organization of communal-level and provincial-level police forces nationwide.

At the meeting, under the moderation of Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To, delegates discussed various issues regarding the Public Security Forces’ tasks and functions, clarified current challenges and proposed practical approaches to further improve the effectiveness of the forces’ tasks accomplishment in the time ahead.

Addressing the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS leaders, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and hailed the efforts and achievements of the Public Security Forces in May.

Regarding key tasks in the coming time, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that public security units and agencies nationwide should take the lead in realizing and resolutely implementing the “Four Strategic Pillars”, which are the four strategic resolutions of the Politburo.

He also suggested further restructuring and streamlining the organizational apparatus of public security units and agencies at all levels, with a focus on posting competent personnel to appropriate positions, and successfully organizing Party congresses at all levels within the Public Security Forces.

The Minister also directed the police forces to intensify campaigns against crimes and legal violations, particularly high-tech crime, cyberspace violations, counterfeiting, smuggling, trade fraud, intellectual property infringement, environmental crimes and food safety violations.

He called on the entire forces to actively participate in the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control and the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, aiming to turn 20% of communes, wards and townships nationwide into drug-free ones by the end of 2025.
