Police make efforts to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation

MPS - The Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the An Giang Provincial Police Department, organized a law dissemination drive on prevention and control of child sexual abuse and exploitation on June 11, in Da Phuoc town, An Phu district, An Giang province.

Deputy Director of the Criminal Police Department Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Ha attended and delivered a keynote speech at the meeting.

The meeting was attended by local people and children, and lectured by senior officers from the Criminal Police Department and the An Giang Provincial Police Department.

During the meeting, the orators provided local residents with methods and tactics commonly used by criminals to abuse and exploit children, particularly in cyberspace.

They also quoted a number of cases involving cyber violence, domestic violence, school bullying, sexual abuse, trafficking of persons under 16 and illegal child labor, and underscored the harmful impacts of child abuse on a children’s development.

In addition, the orators provided essential life skills to self-defend from the above crimes and the way to recognize behaviors constituting sexual abuse or other legal violations involving persons under the age of 18.

Furthermore, participants were also equipped with skills to prevent and protect themselves against the risk of violence and abuse, especially sexual abuse and exploitation on social media platforms.

The meeting was of great social significance as it provided children and local residents with fundamental knowledge of adolescent psychology, skills to recognize signs of abuse as well as methods to prevent abuse and sexual assault and scenarios that may risk children.

Through the social program, the police suggested that schools, families and communities proactively strengthen coordination and join the police’s effort to prevent and stop child sexual abuse and juvenile delinquency, contributing to creating a safe living environment for children at home, at school and in society.
