Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang meets with Deputy Head of UNMISS

MPS - Head of the Steering Committee of Project 05 of the Vietnamese police’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang had a working session with Deputy Head of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Guang Cong, on the morning of March 26, 2024 (local time).

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and Mr. Guang Cong discussed issues of mutual concern.
 
For his part, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang appreciated UNMISS agencies for their support for the deployment of Vietnamese police officers to UNMISS, and requested leaders of the UNMISS to advocate Vietnam’s deployment of a police unit to UNMISS as well as create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to send working delegations to visit and learn experiences from the countries with their peacekeeping police units at UNMISS, and assist Vietnamese officers working at UNMISS.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Guang Cong appreciated the visit of Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, saying that the visit of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security's high-ranking delegation to the mission showed that Vietnam is ready and willing to join the UN in maintaining security and peace in the world.
 
He also believed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam had prepared personnel and logistics for the deployment of a police unit to a UN peacekeeping mission.

Mr. Guang Cong affirmed that the UNMISS Mission highly appreciated Vietnam's contributions to UN peacekeeping activities, and highlighted Vietnam as an active and responsible member of the international community. 
 
Mr. Guang Cong affirmed that UNMISS is always ready to support Vietnam in general and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in particular in training forces and deploying Vietnamese police to UNMISS.

Mr. Guang Cong said that the Ministry of Public Security's deployment of its police officers to UNMISS is evidence of its increasing contribution to regional and global peace and security. 
 
Specially, he said, he was impressed by the professional competence, professionalism and dedication of the Vietnamese police peacekeepers as well as their willingness to share working expertise and experience with their peers in South Sudan. 
 
Deputy Head of UNMISS Guang Cong hoped that the cooperation between Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular and the United Nations will be strengthened and expanded in the future.
