To further enhance cooperation between Vietnam and Austria, particularly between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and Austrian law enforcement agencies, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides accelerate negotiations and signing of cooperation agreements, including an Agreement on Exchange and Protection of Classified Information, an Extradition Treaty and a Treaty on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, to create a legal foundation for law enforcement cooperation between the two countries.

Additionally, the two sides should strengthen consultations, mutual support and coordination in international forums where both countries are members, while assisting each other in signing, joining and implementing international treaties.

The host also suggested that the two sides should increase delegation exchanges at all levels to share information and professional expertise in crime prevention and control, meet requests on extradition and transfer of sentenced persons on time as well as work closely to investigate and arrest fugitive criminals who are wanted by either Austria or Vietnam and hiding in the other country.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang also called on Austria to offer training programs, including professional training and German language, to Vietnamese public security officers, and provide technical assistance and equipment to strengthen Vietnam’s capabilities in combating drug-related crimes, high-tech crimes and terrorism, as well as in forensic science, immigration control and border management.
