Police from Vietnamese and Lao border provinces sign cooperation deal
MPS - The Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police Department and the public security departments of the two Lao provinces of Sekong and Salavan reviewed the one-year implementation of their cooperation on controlling illict drug trafficking, and signed a new memorandum of understanding, on August 9.

At the signing ceremony, Director of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police Department Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director of the Sekong Provincial Public Security Department Colonel Kham Ban Phom Mani Vong and Deputy Director of the Salavan Provincial Public Security Department Colonel E Ka Lat Theng Som Bat briefed delegates on the results of the economic, cultural, and social development as well as the order and security situation in the three provinces in recent years.
After that, delegates of the two sides discussed measures to strengthen cooperation and agreed on various contents.

| At the meeting with the delegations of the public security departments of Salavan and Se Kong provinces, Secretary of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu highly appreciates the coordination between the two sides in ensuring order and security along the shared borderline as well as the results of cooperation between Thua Thien - Hue province with Lao partner provinces, especially Sekong and Salavan, in the fields of health, education, security and defense over the past years. The official suggested that the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police Department work more closely with the police of Sekong and Salavan provinces to be proactive, grasp the situation, and ensure security in all situations. |
Finally, leaders of the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on ensuring order and security along the shared borderline in 2023.
The signing demonstrates the two sides’ effort to underpin special solidarity, traditional friendship and close cooperation between the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police Department and its Lao counterpart in ensuring order and security, and fighting trans-border crime along the Vietnam-Laos borderline.

Also on this occasion, the Vietnamese and Lao police forces organized various cultural and artistic activities, contributing to strengthening the great relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which has been fostered by generations of Vietnamese and Lao leaders and people.
