According to reports by the Lai Chau authorities, the province currently has 7,064 temporary and dilapidated houses, including 5,831 requiring to be rebuilt and 1,233 in need of repairs.
To date, the province has rebuilt or repaired 4,782 houses, reaching 67.7% of the overall target, and funded more than VND 277 billion for the project.
Joining the local efforts, MPS provided VND 66 billion in support of the construction of 1,100 houses.
Earlier, MPS had mobilized benefactors to donate money for the project.

In addition, the Lai Chau Provincial Police Department contributed VND 7.7 billion to the building of 110 houses.
Since 2021, MPS has implemented a number of projects to eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses in Lai Chau, notably Project 245 and Project 645. As a result, 1,662 houses have been built or renovated in Muong Te and Phong Tho districts.
In 2025, the ministry continued funding the construction of an additional 1,100 houses.
With their great assistance in the projects, the Public Security Forces have shown their consistent and wholehearted commitment to upland communities.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung emphasized that the Party and State leaders, particularly General Secretary To Lam, as well as Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang have always shown special concern and care for the people of Lai Chau Province.
To achieve the goal of eliminating all temporary and dilapidated houses in the province by June 25, 2025, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung and the Standing Committee of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee launched a 70-day campaign and called for the participation of all local departments, sectors and authorities.
The Deputy Minister called on the entire Lai Chau Provincial Police Force as well as agencies, mass organizations, armed forces, construction units and local residents to accelerate the implementation of the project while ensuring construction quality and working safety.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung and Lai Chau Provincial Party Secretary Giang Pao My presented gifts and symbolic keys to 10 households in Nam Xe Commune whose homes had just been built.
