MPS strives to reduce 3,000 criminal cases per year

MPS - The Government held a National-level Conference, on 28th December, 2018, in Hanoi to roll out the Resolution of the 14th National Assembly on socio-economic development in 2019.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security (MPS) expressed delight at the country’s remarkable socio-economic development in 2018. He also underlined a great contribution of the Public Security Forces to the country’s development and international integration by maintaining national security and territorial integrity, and preserving a peaceful and stable environment.

Minister To Lam said that the Public Security Forces will focus on three major tasks in 2019:

First, to take comprehensive measures to maintain national security and neutralize any threats to national security, economic security and cyber security.

Second, to focus on building an orderly, safe and healthy society; to create favorable conditions for individuals to live and work, and enterprises to do business in line with the laws; and to control law violations and crimes.

Third, to build on clean and strong People's Public Security Forces; and to cooperate closely with Central-level agencies and localities to fight effectively crimes and fulfill the assigned tasks.

In addition, Minister To Lam said that about 53,000 criminal cases occur per year on average. He emphasized that the Ministry of Public Security aims to reduce the crime rate by 3-5%, equivalent to 3,000 criminal cases, per year.
