The rally was attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, who is the Chairwoman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug, and Prostitution Prevention and Control, and Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, among others.
Broadcast live from the central venue at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, the event connected to 33 provinces and cities, as well as 3,321 communes, wards and special administrative regions nationwide. This massive synchronization demonstrated unified action and the shared resolve of the Party, the State and the entire population in the fight against drugs.
During the rally, delegates observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the fallen law enforcement officers and civilians who had lost their lives in the line of duty fighting drug-related crime.
Participants also viewed a documentary detailing the devastating impact of drugs on families, communities and society, while highlighting the unwavering efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating drug crimes.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra reaffirmed the Party and State's consistent stance: remaining resolute against criminals while showing compassion toward individuals, and mobilizing the collective strength of society to build a drug-free environment to safeguard the nation's peace and future.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged ministries, sectors and localities to focus their efforts at the grassroots level, leveraging the core role of the Public Security Forces while mobilizing the entire political system, social organizations, businesses and the public.
She emphasized that building drug-free communes, wards and special zones should serve as a firm commitment by local authorities to the people, actively supported by citizens, and used as a benchmark to evaluate local governance in the new era.
The Deputy Prime Minister called upon compatriots, comrades, authorities at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the business community and especially the younger generation to unite in purpose, responsibility, and action. She emphasized that every grassroots unit should become a safe haven where citizens can live in peace, children can grow up securely, and families can preserve their happiness, establishing a solid foundation for the country's sustainable development.
Immediately following the rally, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long, leaders of central ministries and agencies, and thousands of participants joined a public fun run themed "United in Building Drug-Free Communes, Wards and Special Zones," spreading a powerful message of collective action for a safe, healthy and drug-free community.
