
Effectively Ensuring Social Order and Safety for a Joyful Tet Holiday
Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long chaired a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the campaign to attack and suppress violations of social order to safeguard the Lunar New Year 2026 on the afternoon of February 3 in Hanoi.

Over the past period, the Criminal Police Force thoroughly grasped and effectively implemented the Minister’s directive to attack and suppress crime to ensure security and order for the 14th National Party Congress, the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all local levels for the 2026–2031 term, the Lunar New Year 2026, major national events and Spring festivals.
The police forces effectively maintained social order and safety, ensured absolute security for activities during Christmas 2025 and the New Year 2026 and especially for the 14th National Party Congress, with no unexpected security situations arising, while deploying synchronous and proactive measures to prevent and combat crime related to social order.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long emphasized that, in the time ahead, public security units and agencies must resolutely implement the guidelines and orders of the Ministry’s leadership on crime prevention and control.
In the coming period, especially during the Tet holiday, the Criminal Police Department and local police forces are required to mobilize maximum manpower and take comprehensive measures to combat and handle typical crimes in their respective areas.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need to focus on addressing gambling and organized gambling, smuggling along border routes, preventing disorder at Spring tourist sites and early-year festivals, while intensifying the fight against crimes and violations related to illegal lending as well as street crimes and juvenile groups gathering to cause public disorder.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also urged police forces to resolutely combat crimes related to the illegal manufacture, possession, trading and use of weapons, explosives, combat gear and fireworks, while strengthening patrols and inspections for traffic safety, strictly handling of traffic safety violations, particularly cases involving drivers under the influence of drugs.
