Meeting marks 81st Traditional Days of People’s Public Security Forces and Viet Nam Diplomatic Sector

The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence held a meeting to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People’s Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945–August 19, 2026) and the 81st anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Sector (August 28, 1945–August 28, 2026), on August 17, 2026, in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang chaired the event. 

The meeting was also attended by Politburo Member and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung; former Politburo Member and former Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo Member and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; alongside Politburo members, Secretaries and members of the Party Central Committee serving as heads of Central Party commissions, the Vice State President, Deputy Prime Ministers, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, ministers and heads of Central agencies.

Delegates from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were Politburo Member, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organisation and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, and Politburo Member, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs CPV Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, alongside other leaders of the two ministries and heads of their subordinate units.

Representatives from the Ministry of National Defence included members of the Central Military Commission, leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, and heads of its subordinate units. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang expressed his sincere gratitude to General Secretary and State President To Lam as well as incumbent and former leaders of the Party and State for their continued attention, leadership, direction and special care for the Viet Nam People’s Army, the People’s Public Security Forces and the Viet Nam Diplomatic Sector over the years. 

General Phan Van Giang extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the leadership as well as all officers, the ranks and civilian officials at the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also sincerely thanked the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for consistently accompanying, closely coordinating with, and creating favorable conditions for the Viet Nam People’s Army to successfully fulfill the tasks assigned to it by the Party, State and people.

General Phan Van Giang affirmed that, in recent years, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have effectively performed their functions and duties, particularly in implementing coordination regulations for situational research, assessment and advising the Party and State on the adoption of major strategic policies and decisions. 

On the occasion of the 81st Traditional Days of the People’s Public Security Forces and the Vietnamese Diplomatic Sector, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang presented congratulatory floral arrangements to the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
