Minister Luong Tam Quang hosts meeting with Mozambican Minister of the Interior

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang warmly welcomed Minister Paulo Chachine and his delegation to Vietnam to attend the Signing Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (the Hanoi Convention).

The host underlined that the Hanoi Convention holds profound significance for developing countries, including Vietnam and Mozambique, as it provides opportunity for them to strengthen cooperation, technical support, technology transfer and capacity building in the field of cybersecurity.

Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that, following the signing of the Extradition Treaty and the Treaty on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons during the visit of General Secretary To Lam (the then Minister of Public Security) to Mozambique in 2019, the two sides have cooperated effectively in organizing specialized training courses on riot control, explosive handling and hostage rescue, as well as maintained close collaboration in combating transnational crime.

To further deepen bilateral relations, the two ministers agreed to effectively implement existing cooperation documents, enhance information exchange and experience sharing in law enforcement, and coordinate closely in investigating and apprehending fugitives, particularly those having committed transnational crime, drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking and high-tech crime.

The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in cybersecurity, international criminal investigations and technical assistance, while promoting consultation, coordination and mutual support at international forums, especially within the frameworks of the United Nations and INTERPOL, contributing to peace, stability and sustainable development in the two regions and the world.

Expressing his sincere thanks to Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Minister Paulo Chachine expressed his confidence that the relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Mozambican Ministry of the Interior, which is based on the traditional friendship and positive outcomes of recent cooperation, will continue to develop in a substantive and effective manner, while their coordination in combating transnational and cybercrime would be strengthened.
