During the session, the two sides had in-depth discussions on a wide range of issues, including strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies in ensuring information security and addressing regional security challenges, particularly complex security developments in the Asia–Pacific region.

Deputy Minister Pham The Tung reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Russian law enforcement agencies as well as its willingness to engage more deeply in high-level security forums, including the ASEAN–Russia cooperation mechanism.

Both sides agreed that the year of 2025 holds historic significance as it marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia, the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, Vietnam’s 80th National Day and the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces.

These milestones, they noted, help further deepen the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

The two sides reaffirmed that the official visit to Russia in May 2025 by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam was a turning point in bilateral relations, opening a new chapter of cooperation while consolidating mutual trust and laying the foundation for stronger, more comprehensive development of Vietnam–Russia ties.

They also highlighted that security cooperation remains a pillar in bilateral relations, which has firmly been built on mutual trust and respect.

The consultation session marked another step forward in Vietnam–Russia security cooperation, following the success of the Russia–Vietnam Working Group meeting in December 2024 in Hanoi, and contributed to consolidating the foundation for a long-term, sustainable and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
