People’s Police Academy supports residents in flood-affected areas of Dien Bien province

Heavy rains from late July to early August triggered severe flash floods and landslides across northern mountainous and north-central provinces, causing widespread damage to local schools. 

In Dien Bien province alone, many schools were inundated, classrooms collapsed or subsided, posing major risks to the teachers and students when the new school year is coming. Additionally, lots of things, such as computers, projectors, printers, desks and supplies, were destroyed, causing another difficulty to the local teachers and students.

To help the teachers and students in severely affected communes, the PPA and its partners funded the repairs of classrooms and provided school supplies for the children so that they can begin the 2025–2026 academic year on schedule.

During the program, the delegation also offered essential goods, solar-powered lighting systems to local schools, as well as more than 30,000 notebooks, pens, rulers, 16,000 medicine kits, scholarships for disadvantaged students and gift packages to 10 needy households with school age children. The delegation also gave funding to the building of new classrooms and two “Houses of Happiness” for orphans in Xa Dung and Muong Luan communes.

In addition, the PPA presented equipment worth 15 million VND to the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department and communal police stations of Xa Dung and Muong Luan, helping them effectively perform their task of ensuring public security and order tasks in the new situation.

On this occasion, the PPA gave gifts worth 60 million VND to the “Adopted Children of Dien Bien Police” program and Lao students from six northern provinces studying at the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department.
