Police successfully rescue two foreign tourists lost in Hoang Lien National Park

At around 11:00 a.m. on September 29, 2025, rescue forces successfully located two foreign tourists at Sub-zone 274, Region 4, Lot 2 of Hoang Lien National Park (Lao Cai province), about three kilometers inside the forest from the 2,200-meter Rest Station on the Fansipan trekking route.

The search and rescue operation was launched immediately after police received a signal was received at 4:56 p.m. on September 28.

The leadership of Hoang Lien National Park, in coordination with the Ta Van Communal Police Station, the Forest Protection Force, the Hoang Lien Tourism and Biodiversity Conservation Center and local authorities of Ta Van commune, activated a rescue plan.

The first search team set off the same evening but could not reach the tourists due to heavy rain and rising streams.

Rescue forces timely assist two lost foreigners.

On the morning of September 29, a second team comprising forest rangers, communal police officers, local militia, residents of Sin Chai village, the Fansipan Cable Car medical team and the Fire and Rescue Police Force of Sa Pa Ward started the mission.

Equipped with specialized tools and guided by local residents knowing the terrain, as well as capable of using navigation devices and communicating in English, the team successfully found the two tourists in good health and mental condition. 

They were immediately taken safely down the mountain.

The timely rescue operation demonstrated the dedication and professionalism of the local police force as well as good coordination between the police and relevant agencies in ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
