Vietnam, Algeria heading for intensive security collaboration

A high-level delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung held a working session with Secretary-General of the Algerian Ministry of Interior Mahmoud Djama, leaders of the local authorities and the agency for land use planning, on November 19, 2025, at the headquarters of the Algerian Ministry of Interior.

Deputy Minister of Public Security and other high-ranking public security officers were members of the Vietnamese government’s delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

At the working session, the two sides agreed to bolster cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Algerian law enforcement agencies in the fields of security, policing and law enforcement, with the aim of ensuring national security, social order and safety and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the citizens of their countries. 

According to their agreement, the two sides will regularly exchange information on crime, especially cybercrime, drug crime, money laundering, human trafficking and terrorism, and coordinate in handling complex security issues related to businesses and citizens of one country in the other.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen their coordination to ensure the security and safety of high-level delegations of one country visiting the other, ensure security and safety of the legal activities of investment, trade, temporary employment of firms as well as lawful residency, study and tourism of citizens of one country in the other.

The two sides pledged to protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, businesses and representative agencies of one country on the territory of the other. 

Next, the two sides affirmed their commitment not to allow any organization or individual to take advantage of one country's territory to carry out activities against the other.

Finally, the two sides agreed to step up the process of signing an anti-crime cooperation agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Algeria, creating a firm legal basis for the implementation of comprehensive cooperation activities between the two ministries in the coming time.
