Vietnamese police help Lao child safely return home

Police officers of the Phieng Khoai Communal Police Station under the Son La Provincial Police Department (Vietnam) assisted a lost Lao child in safely returning home on March 23, 2026.

Earlier on that morning, residents of Hang Mon 1 village spotted a child showing signs of exhaustion, and promptly reported the case to the local communal police.

Immediately, officers of the Phieng Khoai Communal Police Station rushed to the scene, carefully took the child to the police station, and started conducting identity verification of the boy.

The child was later identified as Thao V. (born in 2015, Lao nationality), residing with his relatives in Xiengkhor district, Houaphanh province, Lao People’s Democratic Republic. 

He had left home to looking for his mother, who was working in Son La province, but became lost due to not knowing her exact address.

Within the same day, the Phieng Khoai Communal Police Station coordinated with the local border guard forces to safely return the child to his hometown according to the law.

The unit also provided essential supplies to the child.

The incident reflects the responsibility and dedication of grassroots-level police officers, contributing to spreading a positive image of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces and earning recognition and appreciation from authorities and people of the neighboring country.
