Welcoming Minister Luong Tam Quang and the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to Laos, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong highly appreciated the positive outcomes of the cooperation between the two ministries over the past time.
The host expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to deepen the bilateral cooperation, particularly in combating various types of crime, especially drug-related and high-tech crime and in building capacity of public security officers of both ministries.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang sincerely thanked the Lao Deputy Prime Minister for the warm reception for the Vietnamese delegation.

On the occasion of the 64th founding anniversary of the Lao Public Security Forces (April 5, 1961–2025) and the recent traditional Bun Pi May New Year Festival of the Lao people, Minister Luong Tam Quang extended congratulations to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Vilay Lakhamphong, the leadership of the Lao Ministry of Public Security and all officers and enlistees of the Lao Public Security Forces.
He also wishes that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples in general and between the Public Security Forces of the two countries in particular would forever thrive.
The guest highlighted major positive results of the two sides’ implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Drug Prevention and Control, which was extended until 2027, particularly in joint intensive investigations of related cases.

The Vietnamese Minister also stressed the need to further enhance cooperation in combating human trafficking, joining efforts to track and arrest criminals wanted by one country fleeing to the other, preventing illegal immigration as well as high-tech crime and online fraud.
During their talks, the two Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to effectively implementing the 2025 cooperation plan agreed upon by both sides.
They also agreed to coordinate closely to ensure absolute security for major political events in each country, particularly the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
The two sides further consented to strengthening cooperation in combating drug-related crimes, high-tech crimes and illegal immigration, intensifying efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks, and jointly launching campaigns to attack crime along the Vietnam-Laos border, contributing to safeguarding national security and ensuring social order in each country.
Finally, the two ministers agreed to further enhance training cooperation to improve the capacity of public security officers, especially those working at the grassroots level, to meet the requirements for the task of preventing and controlling crime in the new situation.
