Vietnam, China agree to deepen cooperation in security and law enforcement

MPS - Within the framework of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s state visit to China, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang had talks with Chinese State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, on August 20th, in Beijing.

Warmly welcoming Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Vietnamese delegation to China, Minister Wang Xiaohong congratulated Minister Luong Tam Quang on his new election as a Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Chinese Public Security Minister affirmed that security and law enforcement cooperation between the two countries has achieved numerous positive results over the past years, saying that the Chinese Ministry of Public Security is ready to coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to realize the common perceptions on expanding cooperation in security and law enforcement reached by Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam.

At the talks, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated the Chinese side on its successful organization of the 3rd plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, believing that under the sound leadership of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, China will achieve its key targets by the 80th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, turning China into a modernized, prosperous, democratic, civilized, harmonious and beautiful socialist nation.

At the talks, the two ministers reached consensus that, on the basis of the joint statement agreed by the top leaders of the two countries during the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to China, the two sides will effectively carry out existing cooperation mechanisms between the two ministries, particularly the Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention and Control, while developing new cooperation mechanisms.

In addition, the two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in preventing and combating economic crimes, telecommunication frauds, human trafficking, illegal immigration as well as in maintaining cybersecurity, recovering assets from wanted fugitives while teaming up to ensure security and safety for each country's major events and high-level visits of one country to the other.

Furthermore, the two ministries will boost bilateral cooperation in training personnel, sharing experiences in applying digital transformation into their professional work, deploying police forces to UN peacekeeping missions, while strengthening law enforcement cooperation within multilateral frameworks, contributing to creating an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development in each country as well as in the region and the world.

* On the same day, Minister Luong Tam Quang also had talks with Chinese Minister of State Security Chen Yixin.

Welcoming Minister Luong Tam Quang and the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to the Chinese Ministry of State Security, Minister Chen Yixin believed that, bases on the successful outcome of General Secretary and President To Lam’s visit to China, the bilateral cooperation between the Chinese Ministry of State Security and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will be developed in a positive and practical manner in the coming time.

At the talks, the two ministers agreed to continue exchanging high-level delegations, sharing information and their assessments of global and regional situations, preventing and addressing newly-emerging non-traditional security challenges, countering terrorism, transnational organized crimes, economic crimes and cybercrimes, while maintaining the China-Vietnam Deputy-Ministerial Dialogue on Strategic Security and promoting security cooperation within multilateral frameworks.
