Thanks to the sound leadership of the two Ministries of Public Security, the Vietnamese and Lao public security forces have excellently fulfilled their tasks of protecting national security and maintaining social order and safety in each country over the past year even although the global and regional security landscape changed in complex and unpredictable manners.

The two ministries took synchronous measures to effectively prevent and combat transnational organized crimes, including drug trafficking and human trafficking while providing each other legal assistance on criminal matters.

In addition, the two sides successfully co-held the Vietnam-Laos Ministerial Bilateral Meeting on Crime Prevention and Social Order Maintenance.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong signed a cooperation plan for 2025 between the two Ministries of Public Security, requesting the two countries’ Public Security Forces to thoroughly grasp and effectively realize the cooperation plan so as to bring the ties between the two ministries to a higher level.

Accordingly, in 2025, the Public Security Forces of the two countries need to maintain information exchange mechanisms at various levels, closely coordinate to ensure absolute security and safety for visits by one country’s top leaders to the other country, and protect citizens of one country living, working, and studying legally in the other country.

In addition, the two sides should maintain information exchange, join efforts to track and arrest fugitives wanted by one country hiding in the other country while closely coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to effectively implement the agreement between the two governments on preventing and combating human trafficking and protecting victims of trafficking in persons.
