Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh talks with Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Interior
MPS - A visiting high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh on October 12 had talks with Deputy Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Ceslovas Mulma.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh emphasized that the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania has gained various achievements in immigration and residence management. The two ministries have coordinated in ensuring security and safety for over 11,000 Vietnamese and Lithuanian citizens visiting and working in the two countries since 2016. However, the level of current cooperation is not on a par with the potentials and aspirations of each party.
Deputy Minister Thanh asked for more cooperation between the two countries in exchanging information and experience in their professional work, as well as in preventing and fighting crimes, particularly transnational organized crime, high-tech crime, terrorism, drug-related crime, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

The Lithuanian Deputy Minister promised to try his best to make contributions to promoting the relations between the two ministries in particular and between the two countries in general.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh and his delegation also had a working session with Lithuanian Police Commissioner Linas Pernavas Skaitykite and Commander of the State Border Guard Service Renatas Pozela.

At the working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Immigration Department under the MPS of Vietnam, and the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania on cooperation in immigration management. The deal serves as a legal frame work for cooperation activities in the time to come.
