Noting that Vietnam is currently one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing internet markets in Southeast Asia, with over 78 million internet users, of whom approximately 73 million use Google services, Minister Luong Tam Quang said that Vietnam is an attractive and promising destination for leading U.S. tech companies like Google to further expand their investments, digital services and modern technologies.
In the current context of growing cybercrime and legal violations in cyberspace, Minister Luong Tam Quang hoped that Google would continue to invest in Vietnam and make further contributions to the development of science, technology, and innovation in the country.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, the Minister highly appreciated the joint effort between the Ministry of Public Security and Google in launching the public awareness campaign titled “Preventing Online Scams: Safer Together with the Ministry of Public Security and Google”, aimed at raising public awareness and vigilance against cyber fraud.
To strengthen future cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides expand collaboration in cybersecurity, cybercrime and hi-tech crime prevention and control as well as share information in support of crime prevention and law enforcement efforts in cyberspace.

The Minister encouraged Google to continue assisting Vietnamese police forces in detecting and preventing online scams, such as financial fraud and illegal money transfer, as well as in building capacity of the Ministry’s cybersecurity experts.
For his part, Vice President Wilson White sincerely thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting and extended his congratulations on Vietnam’s notable achievements in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Agreeing to the Minister’s proposals, the Google representative affirmed that the company will continue to work closely with Vietnamese authorities in the areas of cybersecurity, information safety as well as prevention and combat of hi-tech crime and cybercrime, contributing to regional and global peace and security.
