Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes launches nationwide campaign against cybercrime

MPS - The Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes held a ceremony to launch an intensive nationwide campaign against cybercrime, on the morning of July 29 in Hanoi.

In his opening remarks, Director of the Department Major General Le Xuan Minh emphasized that the campaign aims to safeguard national security and social order, support the smooth operation of the two-tier government model and ensure absolute safety for Party congresses at all levels in the lead-up to the 14th National Party Congress.

The campaign also seeks to protect upcoming major national events, including the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 80th founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces.

The Director stressed that the campaign holds significant socio-political importance, as it is intended to prevent hostile forces and cybercriminals at home and overseas from making full use of the country’s politically sensitive time to intensify sabotage activities, spread false information causing public confusion, and disrupt social stability.

To ensure the campaign’s effectiveness, Major General Le Xuan Minh called on all units to fully perceive their political responsibilities, maintain a high level of vigilance and seriously implement their assigned tasks in accordance with the action plan, with a high resolve to leave no room for error in any circumstances.

He instructed the force to focus on identifying and dismantling organized and transnational cybercrime networks, make a special effort to control  the cyberspace, and reinforce the State management of cybersecurity.

In addition, the campaign will protect sensitive sectors such as finance, banking, telecommunications and e-commerce.

To meet the end, the Director urged the cybersecurity force to coordinate closely with the press and mass media to raise the public awareness and vigilance against cybercrime.
