Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long and Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Project “Building a national population database and chip-based identification card management system” Senior Lieutenant General Khamking Phuilamanyvong co-chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the project, on December 20th, in Laos.
The meeting aimed to evaluate the implementation of the project, discuss remaining difficulties and propose approaches to effectively implement the project in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long emphasized the great strategic significance of the project for Vietnam-Laos cooperation and relations, saying that it aims to not only modernize the Lao Government’s social administration, but also strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Highlighting the notable results achieved by the two sides in the implementation of the project, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long affirmed that those achievements demonstrate the strong and consistent direction of the two governments, the close and effective coordination between the two Ministries of Public Security and the great effort of the involved units and agencies of the two countries with the aim of completing the project on schedule with the best quality.

To ensure the successful implementation of the project, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the Lao Ministry of Public Security should advise the Lao Government on establishing steering committees for the project from the central level to local as well as issue temporary documents to create a legal framework for the current implementation of the project and later amend and supplement the existing legal documents so as to synchronize the legal system of Laos.
Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security Khamking Phuilamanyvong appreciated the close and effective coordination between the two governments, underscoring the practical support from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for the Lao Ministry of Public Security in implementing the project.

The Lao Deputy Minister suggested that the two Ministries of Public Security should enhance coordination, regularly exchange information and jointly analyze data to perfect data and digital infrastructure policies, contributing to raising the effectiveness and efficiency of their State management, protecting national security and bringing practical benefits to the Lao people as well as promoting the Vietnam-Laos relations to a higher level.
