Over the past time, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department, in coordination with relevant under-ministerial police departments and police departments of 11 provinces and cities, investigated and dismantled a large-scale cybercriminal network using high technology to cheat people out of their property.
By now, the police have arrested and prosecuted 41 suspects and seized hundreds of cellphones, laptops and a large amount of documents and other exhibits.
Initial results of the investigation of the case revealed that the suspects took advantage of the Government's policies on digital transformation and administrative procedure reforms to impersonate police officers, calling citizens and guiding them to perform online public service procedures to take their personal information and appropriate their money from their bank accounts.
The criminal gang defrauded more than 13,000 people across the country, illegally appropriating nearly 1,000 billion VND.
It is a special victory of the Bac Ninh Provincial Police. The clearance of the case also demonstrates their excellent professional expertise and high sense of responsibility in implementing directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on combating transnational organized crime and hi-tech crime as well as on attacking and suppressing all types of crime to ensure security and order during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
The success in clearing the case has also contributed to reinforcing the rule of law and implementing the Party, the State, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security’s policies on digital transformation and administrative reform, as well as to creating a stable and secure environment for socio-economic development of the country.
The victory also contributed to creating positive changes in the security and order situation in the country, deterring criminals, preventing crime and strengthening people’s trust in the Public Security Forces.
On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung praised the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department for its victory.
The Deputy Minister requested the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department to closely coordinate with relevant police units and agencies to expand the investigation of the case and early finish the documentation so as to prosecute all involved persons in line with the laws.
The Deputy Minister wished the local police force more achievements in performing their assigned tasks in the coming time.
