MPS opens refresher course on disaster prevention, search and rescue and civil defense for communal-level police

MPS - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) officially opened a training course on climate change adaptability, disaster prevention, search and rescue and civil defense for communal-level police officers on May 26, in Hanoi.

Deputy Chief of the MPS Office and Permanent Deputy Head of the MPS Steering Committee for Climate Change Response, Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen attended and delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

The course is attended by 158 communal-level police officers from eight northern provinces, namely Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, and Hoa Binh.

During the course, participants will be updated on key policies, and guidelines issued by the Government, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and MPS regarding climate change response, disaster prevention and search and rescue operations.

Additionally, the training will equip officers with basic rescue skills, improve the readiness of the core forces in responding to emergencies at the local level.

It also aims to build grassroots police capacity to address environmental issues, climate-induced disasters, and mitigate their impacts on people’s lives, property, the environment, and socio-economic development.

In his remarks, Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen called on the organizing committee to strictly comply with the Ministry’s regulations and create favorable conditions for the trainees.

He also urged all trainees to maintain a high sense of responsibility, strictly observe course regulations and ensure absolute safety for both trainees and trainers, vehicles and equipment throughout the training.
