Delivering a report explaining revisions to the draft resolution before the vote, Chairwoman of the NA's Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Thuy Anh underlined that the programme generally aims to mobilize the synergy of the whole political system and all people for the fight against drug abuse and drug-related crime.
She also stressed that the implementation of the programme will focus on preventing and combating drug-related crime at the grassroots-levels and seek comprehensive and synchronous measures to reduce drug supply, demand and harmful effects in an effort to build a safe and healthy society, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Accordingly, one of the programme’s goals is that at least 50% of communes, wards and towns nationwide will become drug-free by 2030.
Later, under the chairmanship of NA’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh, NA deputies conducted a vote on the resolution on the investment policy for the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030.
The resolution was approved with 453 out of 456 deputies voting in favour, accounting for 94.57% of the total NA deputies. Accordingly, the NA officially adopted its resolution on the investment policy for the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030.
