According to Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, the Law on Data represents Vietnam’s first comprehensive legislation governing the creation, development, protection, management, processing and utilization of data. The official said, Vietnam has now been among a few countries in the world that have issued such a data legislation. By doing so, he said, the country reaffirms its commitment to building a transparent and consistent legal framework that supports data-driven socio-economic development.

Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong also revealed that the National Data Center strives to become a world-class facility capable of storing, processing integrating big data, real-time data and intersectoral data. Additionally, it prioritizes cybersecurity and data safety, considering it a vital mission of the nation in the digital era.
He expressed his belief that, with the strong determination, close coordination, active participation of all levels of government, the business community and the public, the Law on Data will be effectively implemented, contributing to the modernization of public administration, the development of a dynamic digital economy and the building of a thriving digital society.

The NDC Director requested that all subordinate units urgently develop detailed action plans in alignment with the responsibilities stipulated in the law and its guiding documents, while popularizing the law to civil servants, enterprises and the general public.
In addition, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong urged agencies, organizations, enterprises and experts to coordinate closely with the NDC not only in implementing the law, but also in building an open, transparent, humane sustainable national data ecosystem.
As part of the ceremony, NDC Deputy Director Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Vinh briefed delegates on the key contents of the Law on Data, the Government Decree detailing specific provisions and implementation measures the Decree on the National Data Development Fund.
