Yen Bai Police support flood-affected people

MPS - The Provincial Police of Yen Bai on July 23 launched a fundraising drive, calling on all police officers and soldiers to donate one-day pay each in support of the people who have been affected by the recent flooding and are trying their best to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.


Due to the negative impacts of the Typhoon Son Tinh, from July 18 to 21, the province of Yen Bai witnessed heavy rains leading to floods, which caused great damages and losses of property and people.

As of July 22, the floods left 11 deaths, 6 people missing and 18 people injured; damaged 1,523 houses, 2,532 hectares of crops, 350 hectares of aqua-farming, 422 roads sections and bridges and various public projects; and flew away 2,843 cattle and poultry. An estimated loss totaling VND 270 billion.

Many officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police of Yen Bai have voluntarily donated their one-day pays to support the people affected by the storm in the districts of Van Chan, Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, Van Yen, Nghia Lo town and Yen Bai city.

All of the donated money will be used to hand over to food-affected people. Additionally, the Provincial Police of Yen Bai also deployed forces and means to join search and rescue missions, activities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and relocate people living in landslide-prone areas to safer places.
