British Embassy sends letter of thanks to Vietnamese authorities

Recently, amid increasingly complicated infringements of digital copyrights in cyberspace, Vietnamese functional forces have proactively grasped the situation, identified criminal methods and tactics and promptly taken synchronous measures to detect, prevent and fight acts of infringing copyrights and related rights in the digital environment.

In that circumstance, the local police launched attacks on the Xoi Lac TV piracy network, which had illegally broadcast soccer matches.

 It was a typical case, clearly demonstrating the proactive and resolute spirit as well as the law enforcement capacity of the Vietnamese authorities in combating organized copyright infringement groups in cyberspace with the involvement of cross-border elements.

In its letter, the British Embassy acknowledged and highly appreciated the Vietnamese functional agencies for the handling of the case, thereby contributing to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of rights holders, licensed content service providers and lawful users.

The recognition from the Embassy carries significant meaning in the context that copyright infringement in cyberspace is no longer an issue for an individual country, but has become a common challenge requiring close coordination among law enforcement agencies, diplomatic missions, international organizations and organizations and individuals operating across borders.

This also reflects international partners’ positive recognition of Vietnam’s efforts in protecting digital copyright, further affirming the country’s image as a proactive and responsible nation, contributing to the global effort to enforce intellectual property rights in cyberspace.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese authorities with a proactive resolute approach will continue to detect, prevent and handlcopyright infringement in cyberspace, while further strengthening international cooperation, information sharing and coordination in verifying and handling acts infringing intellectual property rights.
