In their letter, the Chinese citizens expressed their gratitude to the Vietnamese police for their high sense of responsibility, proper conduct and humane behavior during the period when they had been dealing with expulsion procedures.
Previously, the Criminal Judgment Enforcement and Judicial Support Police Division of the Lao Cai Provincial Police Department had taken over the management of and arranged accommodation for the ten Chinese citizens who had violated the Vietnamese laws and been waiting for expulsion in accordance with the host country’s law.
Although the Chinese nationals were offenders and in custody, local police officers provided sufficient facilities for them, behaved humanly toward them, respected their lawful rights and interests in compliance with the Vietnamese laws and the relevant international treaties to which Vietnam is party.
The letter of thanks sent by the foreign citizens to the Lao Cai Provincial Police Department demonstrates the local police’s rightful and human behavior to the offended. This contributes to the promotion of a positive image of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces in criminal judgment enforcement, judicial assistance and people-to-people exchanges.
This also demonstrates that Vietnam is a law-governed and humane country that respects human rights and is willing to strengthen friendship and cooperation with other countries, particularly China.
