At 7:58 a.m. on the same day, the Area 10 Fire and Rescue Police Team under the Dak Lak Fire and Rescue Police Division received a report that a group of five tourists, including four foreign nationals, had been swept by sea waves and trapped on rocky reefs while picnicking and swimming at Bai Tien beach, Vung Ro hamlet, Hoa Xuan commune, Dak Lak province. They were facing a high risk of drowning.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Fire and Rescue Police Division mobilized task forces, specialized vehicles and an ambulance to the scene to conduct rescue operations.
At the time, sea conditions at Bai Tien beach were rough, with strong waves, cold water and powerful currents, making it extremely difficult for rescue forces to approach the locations where the victims were stranded among the rocks.
Thanks to the active and responsible coordination of the Hoa Xuan Communal Police Station, the local mobile police unit, the Vung Ro Port Border Guard Station and local residents after nearly two hours of battling strong waves and traversing hazardous rocky areas covered with slippery seaweed, by 9:30 a.m. the same day, rescue forces successfully brought the group of tourists to safety and transferred them to Phu Yen General Hospital for first aid.
