Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long attends launch ceremony for joint action against human trafficking

Present at the event were Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Tran Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, and Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong.

The year 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Vietnam’s observance of the National Day Against Human Trafficking. Under the close direction of the Party and State and through the decisive involvement of the entire political system, Vietnam has demonstrated strong resolve in refining its legal framework, launching intensive crackdowns on crime, addressing the root causes and conditions that give rise to human trafficking, and promptly rescuing and supporting thousands of victims.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long urged all ministries, agencies, local Party committees and authorities at all levels to closely monitor the situation and stay ahead of emerging criminal methods and tactics, particularly those operating in cyberspace. He stressed the importance of proactively advising on and implementing measures to prevent, combat, and stop human trafficking early and from afar.

He also emphasized the need to closely integrate human trafficking prevention with national target programs on socio-economic development, poverty reduction, stable job creation, and sustainable livelihoods, especially for vulnerable groups, ethnic minorities, and residents in mountainous and remote areas.

Furthermore, communication campaigns and legal education must be diversified so that anti-trafficking awareness genuinely reaches every citizen. Particular focus should be placed on equipping young people with "digital immunity" to help them recognize risks, navigate social media safely, and avoid falling victim to human trafficking.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long called for resolute, targeted strikes to dismantle trafficking rings and criminal networks for strict prosecution under the law, alongside timely rescue, protection, and community reintegration support for victims. He also highlighted the necessity of effective inter-agency and inter-regional coordination, as well as enhanced international cooperation, to maximize the impact of anti-trafficking efforts.

During the event, delegates pressed a button symbolically committing to anti-trafficking action in response to National Day Against Human Trafficking. Following the ceremony, participating forces joined a parade along major thoroughfares in central Nha Trang to spread the message: "Preventing and combating human trafficking is the responsibility of every individual, every family and society as a whole."
