Economic Police Force celebrates 70th founding anniversary

The ceremony was attended by Politburo Member and President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; as well as Politburo members, former Politburo members, members of the Secretariat, and leaders of central agencies, ministries, organizations, and sectors.

Politburo Member, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the ceremony. The event also saw the presence of members of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Ministers of Public Security, alongside different generations of generals, officers and personnel of the People's Public Security Forces and the Economic Police Force.

On this occasion, General Secretary and State President To Lam sent a congratulatory letter and a flower basket to the Economic Police Force.

Over 70 years of development, combat and growth, the Economic Police Force has undergone various structural re-organizations and name changes to align with the demands of each revolutionary phase. Throughout this journey, the force has remained steadfast in its pioneering mission to prevent and combat crime, uphold economic management order, safeguard State assets, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of businesses, organizations and citizens, thereby actively contributing to national construction and development.

The outstanding achievements and historic milestones recorded by the Economic Police Force over the past seven decades have been recognized by the Party, the State and the people through numerous noble awards.

In particular, being conferred the Ho Chi Minh Order on its 70th anniversary is not only a testament to the Party and State's profound recognition of the immense contributions made by generations of officers and soldiers, but also a source of great pride and inspiration for the entire force to continue striving, dedicating, and growing.

Addressing the ceremony, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man emphasized that throughout its 70-year history, under the leadership of the Party and directly guided by the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the MPS leadership, the Economic Police Force has continuously grown stronger across all facets.

He noted that the force has consistently demonstrated political steadfastness, sharp intellect, a high sense of responsibility, and absolute loyalty to the Party, the State, and the people. Furthermore, the force remains deeply committed to executing the directive of General Secretary and State President To Lam, who affirmed that “the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negative phenomena is a particularly critical, regular, and long-term task; the resolute and persistent struggle to prevent and repel these vices is a consistent, overarching policy of our Party and State.”

The National Assembly President urged the Economic Police Force to focus on effectively executing several core mandates. Most notably, the force must continue to assert its pivotal role in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, negative phenomena, economic crimes, and smuggling. It must concentrate on detecting, investigating, and strictly handling any abuse of position, power, or policy loopholes aimed at personal gain, as well as any infringements upon public assets, national resources, and the country’s development capital.

Speaking in response, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the MPS leadership, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed profound gratitude for the sustained attention and guidance extended by the Party, the State, and the National Assembly President personally toward the cause of national security, economic crime prevention, and the institutional development of the Public Security Forces.

On behalf of the leadership and the entire force, Minister Luong Tam Quang pledged to fully absorb these directives, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and resolve to successfully carry out the National Assembly President's instructions. The force will take an exemplary lead in implementing the Party's strategic policies, particularly those regarding anti-corruption and development facilitation, thereby laying a solid foundation to help realize the nation's two centenary goals.
