Fire and Rescue Academy: New name – new mission – new heights

Member of the Central Committee of CPV, Deputy Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organisation and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Dr. Le Quoc Hung, attended and addressed the ceremony. 

The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Prof. Dr. Le Quan alongside leadership representatives from central and local commissions, ministries and sectors. 

At the ceremony, a representative of the Department of Organisation and Personnel under the Ministry of Education and Training announced the Prime Minister's Decision on transforming the University of Fire Fighting and Prevention into the Fire and Rescue Academy. A representative of the Department of Organisation and Personnel under the Ministry of Public Security then announced the Decision of the Minister of Public Security regarding the implementation of the transformation decision, as well as renaming the Party Committee of the University of Fire Fighting and Prevention into the Party Committee of the Fire and Rescue Academy. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that the transformation marks a substantive development in quality, scale, and mission, establishing the academy as the nation's premier training center for human resources in fire fighting, prevention, and rescue. He noted that this milestone creates strong momentum for the academy as it strives to fulfill its glorious responsibilities in the country’s new era of development.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung requested the academy to bring about substantive improvements in training quality, scientific research, and strategic advisory capacity, becoming a leading hub for knowledge, scientific research, and innovation. He urged the institution to prepare high-quality human resources to help meet concrete objectives amidst emerging traditional and non-traditional security challenges and heightened requirements for national security protection.

The academy was directed to proactively research and apply artificial intelligence (AI), new materials, unmanned systems and other advanced technologies to fire fighting and rescue operations. He placed special emphasis on developing training programs that enable Fire Fighting and Rescue Police officers to earn internationally recognized certifications for specialized skills, meeting the demands of domestic operations and international United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung expressed his firm belief that, by 2030, the academy will become an advanced higher education institution and a specialized research and innovation center in fire fighting, prevention, and rescue—serving as a true cradle for forging "Steel Shields" to protect the peaceful lives of the People.
