Minister Luong Tam Quang receives farewell call from U.S. Ambassador

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Ambassador Marc Knapper on his successful tenure in Vietnam and highly appreciated the Ambassador’s important contributions to the positive development of the Vietnam–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Regarding specialized cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang recognized Ambassador Marc Knapper’s efforts to strengthen coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and U.S. security and law enforcement agencies, with a view to expanding the scope and improving the quality of cooperation activities in ensuring security and social order, counter-terrorism, combating transnational crime as well as training and capacity building.

Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the U.S. as one of its leading strategic partners, and that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with U.S. partners to ensure security and safeguard the interests of both countries and peoples.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his hope that, after his term of office in Vietnam, Ambassador Marc Knapper would continue to voice support for Vietnam to the U.S. Congress, Government and people.

He also stressed that the two countries should continue to effectively implement the content of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in accordance with the Joint Statement and Action Plan agreed upon by the leaders of both sides, particularly in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, high technology, supply chain security, as well as cooperation on maritime security and non-traditional security.

Thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for his thoughts, Ambassador Marc Knapper said he was proud to have joined major milestones in bilateral relations, notably the upgrading of the bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in September 2023 and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam–U.S. diplomatic relations in July 2025.

The Ambassador affirmed that in the time ahead, regardless of his position, he would continue to make effort to nurture and develop the Vietnam–U.S. bilateral relationship, contributing practically to peace, stability, cooperation, security and prosperity in the region and the world.
