Minister Luong Tam Quang receives newly-accredited Iranian Ambassador

Congratulating Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi on his appointment, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed confidence that, with his extensive knowledge and rich diplomatic and political experience, the Ambassador would enjoy a successful tenure in Viet Nam.

Reviewing the 53 years of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Iran (1973–2026), Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that, despite numerous changes in the global and regional landscape, the two countries have consistently maintained their friendship and cooperation, supporting each other in national construction, defense and development.

The two sides have also continuously maintained, consolidated and expanded their relations in such fields as economy, education and training, science and technology, agriculture, culture, sports and tourism.

To further promote security and law enforcement cooperation into an important pillar of the overall Viet Nam–Iran relationship, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the Ambassador continue promoting delegation exchanges at all levels, enable the two sides to better understand their needs and potential for cooperation, and expand cooperation in crime prevention and control, while effectively implementing the agreements already signed.

The Minister also proposed that the two sides actively coordinate to ensure absolute security and safety for visits by high-ranking leaders, as well as the security and safety of diplomatic missions and citizens working, studying, traveling or investing in each other’s territory.

He further called on the two sides to strengthen cooperation and mutual support at international forums of which both sides are members.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang also proposed that the Iranian side actively exchange information and share assessments of international terrorism, drug-related crime and transnational organized crime that could risk Vietnam’s security and social safety.

For his part, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi expressed his honor at assuming his post in Viet Nam and sincerely thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang for the warm reception and the open and substantive exchanges.

The Ambassador affirmed that he would make every effort to promote cooperation between the two sides in potential areas, particularly security and order.

He also pledged to facilitate connections between the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and Iranian law enforcement agencies in implementing cooperation activities under the signed agreements, thereby contributing to the increasingly comprehensive, effective and substantive development of bilateral relations in line with the common interests of the two countries.
